On February 8th, 2015, my water broke at just 24 weeks and 4 days. Doctors were able to delay labor for 3 days before I developed an infection and his heart rate showed signs of distress.

We welcomed our tiny 1lb 10oz baby boy, Lincoln Isaac Rose, on February 11, 2015.  He was feisty from the start but it became apparent quickly that he was sick. Lincoln had E coli and later developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). We received a call in the middle of the night on February 22nd that his NEC was causing complications and he would need to be transported to the children's hospital.

Over the next 17 days, Lincoln underwent 5 surgeries.  He fought hard and taught us so much in his short life.

On March 11, 2015 we learned there was nothing more the doctors could do for Lincoln.  We chose to withdraw curative measures and transition to comfort care.

We held him for the first time as they took him off life support.  We held, rocked and sang to him as he passed away.  Now we try to help others in his memory.

Lincoln may not physically be here but he is leaving a legacy of amazing things.
